I have a question. Why not full range of motion? Back in the day, we were taught that execises that did not go full range could cause  muscle tearing.
    Luv you

    Hey Pat!
Thanks for the question! From my experience with clients and the literature I have studied, full range of motion is dependent upon an individual client’s strength, balance, and flexibility.  If a client does not have the proper extensibility in muscle tissue, or ability to dynamically stabilize movement surrounding a joint, forcing them to go full range of motion may cause more damage than good.  One of the adaptations to a workout program that I see with my client’s is their ability to first and foremost stabilize themselves in all three planes of motion.   Then as their strength increases their range of motion inevitabilty will as well.  Bottom line, whatever range of motion a client expresses in their workout, it must be supported and respectful to the body.  Postural distortions or past injuries can inhibit certain movements. This must be acknowledged, taken into account, and ultimately with the proper corrective exercise techniques adjusted. Control over movement is essential, whether it is full range of motion or partial, if a client is not able to control their body or the added weight of dumbbells, barbells, etc. they will surely be injured.  Again, thanks so much for the question.  I encourage and welcome open discussions on health, and all things related!
    TO YOUR HEALTH!
